Not much help or support here. While the employee I spoke with was very friendly, my 2022 Passat was 313 miles out of bumper to bumper warranty upon arrival. After paying an outside vendor $420 to tow my vehicle in, I received a diagnosis a few days later. The steering lock failed at 50,313 miles. Technically, 205 miles out when it started failing, but I didn't realize what it was. I asked my service rep if anything could be done to help with the nearly $900 charge given its suspiciously close proximity to the warranty expiration, and I was flatly told no. I then mentioned that the sunroof gasket had a visible hole in it. For that matter, I told them exactly where the hole was...it is visible from the driver door. I was told that I would be charged a $169 diagnostic fee for them to look at it, plus the cost of the repair. I'm not sure why I would pay $169 for them to tell me that there is a hole in the gasket and it should be replaced when I said that to start with. I paid over the phone and arranged to pick my vehicle up after the service department closed, due to the dealership being a couple of hours out of my way. When I arrived, I was given the keys and told my vehicle was in the "service drive". I went outside and was initially unable to find my vehicle. I located it locked inside a fence with other vehicles holding for service. The salesperson initially responded that he didn't know if he had a key to the gate or not, but he was able to get the gate unlocked and bring my car around. Fast forward to today, at 865 miles out of bumper to bumper warranty, my fan assembly has failed. I called VW North America, and they informed me that this (and other) VW dealers are provided a budget for issues such as this. I just want to be very clear that this dealership, when presented with a budget to take care of issues like this, chose NOT to take care of me or Volkswagen's product. I was very pleased with my vehicle, but based on this treatment, I wouldn't recommend anyone purchase a Volkswagen or if they did, I wouldn't expect this dealership to take care of you. For a vehicle to have been maintained and not mistreated, all of these failures are very suspiciously close to the warranty expiration.
