The IIHS tests vehicle in five categories: two frontal collision scenarios, side impact performance, roof strength in a rollover, and seat/head restraint protection. Top scores in these five crash tests, in addition to available autonomous braking, earned the VW models a Top Safety Pick rating. Top Safety Pick+ winners also demonstrate headlights that provide high visibility with low glare.
