6 of the Best Golf Courses Near Fayetteville, NCThere’s no better way to relax under the Southern sun than by playing a round (or two) of golf, and there are few better places to play than Fayetteville, NC. Famous for the nearby military bases of Fort Bragg and Pope Field, Fayetteville offers a range of courses to those in and out of uniform alike. Here are some of the best golf courses in the Fayetteville area.

1. Fort Bragg Stryker Golf Course

The oldest and most storied courses in the Fayetteville area are located at Fort Bragg. The Stryker course is the longer but also easier of the two, a perfect choice for beginner or intermediate golfers. This course also offers club repair, fitting events, and an exciting Dutch game called FootGolf, a combination of soccer and golf.

2. Fort Bragg Ryder Golf Course

Also located at Fort Bragg, the Ryder course is notable for its gorgeous (but challenging!) water holes. The Ryder course is shorter than the Stryker, but don’t let looks fool you: this is the more difficult of the two, an ideal choice for skilled golfers. As with the Stryker course, this course is open and available to the public, with no need to pass through a military access point.

3. Cypress Lakes Golf Course

One of the longest courses in the region, the Cypress Lakes Golf Course features fairways designed for shattering personal best records. If your long game still needs work after that, head on over to the driving range. Don’t forget to swing by their snack shop before you leave: their delicious burgers come highly recommended!

4. King’s Grant Golf & Country Club

Recent renovations have made the King’s Grant Golf & Country Club one of the best options in the area. The fast and smooth greens offer an exciting challenge for anyone looking to work on their putting game. King’s Grant is a great choice for anyone looking to play an affordable round of golf.

5. Gates Four Golf & Country Club

Gates Four boasts one of several courses in the area designed by ASGCA member Willard C. Byrd. Its greens are notable for their state-of-the-art blend of grasses, certified by the USGA. Need help on your game? Consult one of the friendly PGA professionals on staff.

6. Baywood Golf Club

If you’re hankering to play on Bermuda grass while in the area, Baywood Golf Club’s beautiful course has you covered. For those who can’t go a day without hitting the links, their membership rates are among the most reasonable in the area.

A golf cart (or a good walk) will get you around the course, but to get to the course and back, you’ll need a little more help.
