3 Volkswagen Vehicles Perfect for a Summer Road TripWith the cold weather behind us, you can now set out onto the road to experience the outdoors and visit new cities. Due to the grueling nature of road trips, you’ll need a car that’s not only comfortable to sit in for long hours but can also withstand the rigors of the highway. Here’s the good news. Volkswagen has been making sturdy vehicles for decades and has released several reliable models that take on the road with ease.

Take a look at three Volkswagen vehicles that are perfect for a summer road trip.

1. Volkswagen Arteon

A great road trip vehicle should have a roomy interior and ample cargo space. Well, the Volkswagen Arteon has both — and more. This practical hatchback sedan has 27.2 cubic feet of cargo area, enough for nine suitcases. If you need more space for luggage and less for people, stow away the rear seats to more than double the capacity to 56.2 cubic feet, which can accommodate up to 21 suitcases.

The Arteon is powered by a 2.0-liter engine that puts out 268 horsepower. With this four-cylinder engine and a front-wheel-drive layout, the model gets an impressive 32 mpg on the highway. Also, passengers can stay connected to their devices thanks to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. On the SEL-Premium trim, heated leather seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a massaging driver’s seat will make the ride more comfortable.

2. Volkswagen Atlas

The aptly named Volkswagen Atlas is designed to take you around the world. This mid-size SUV offers a spacious and comfortable cabin with easy-to-use features. Three rows of seating mean you and six others can go on any adventure together. With eight trims and two powerful engines to choose from, the Atlas has just the right configuration for your lifestyle.

For 2021, the Atlas has been updated to include a traffic sign recognition system, useful when you’re taking on the highway. From the SEL and up, the car adds a navigation system, adaptive headlights, and a lane-departure mitigation system to keep you from veering off the road.

Several technology features are available in the Atlas to make the ride comfortable. They include a Wi-Fi hot spot, Volkswagen’s Car-Net package, and a six-speaker sound system (in the S trim). In addition, you can tow up to 5,000 pounds of gear with this vehicle.

3. Volkswagen Tiguan

If compact crossovers are more your style, check out the Volkswagen Tiguan for your next road trip. The Tiguan combines style and comfort so your next adventure is a memorable one. All five trims are powered by a 2.0-liter 184-horsepower engine, and each variant attains an EPA-estimated 29 mpg on the highway.

The Tiguan can seat up to seven across three rows, though you can replace passengers with cargo if you have lots of luggage. With the third-row folded down, the Tiguan can fit up to 19 suitcases. A nine-speaker Fender audio system is available on the top trim to keep you entertained on the ride. Standard safety features include a blind-spot warning system and forward-collision warning.
